What if I told you that the single most powerful tool for success is not groundbreaking strategies or game-changing innovation, but something much closer to you, so close that you can grab it at any time?
Yes, that is self-awareness the most effective tool one should consider when looking for growth in life. Most of the time, we are aware of other people, their behavior, our surroundings, environment, etc. But how many of us are able to be aware of the changes within ourselves? How many of us are aware of our values, emotions, skills, potential, beliefs, thought process, and mindset? Of course, we are aware of some of these on a surface level, but do we have deep awareness about them?
Whenever you find disturbances around you -physical, emotional, psychological—do you realize that it's not just the external factors that create disturbances? It's actually the challenges your inner self is facing when you interact with external factors. We can make better decisions in these circumstances when we address our inner selves and understand why and how they interact with external factors.
Many times, we might struggle with some work while others might be doing it easily or enjoying it. This happens when the work we are doing is not aligning with our inner selves. It might be contradictory to our values, mindset, or thought process. Sometimes, there can be other barriers like cultural or belief systems, our own limitations we unknowingly set. Most of the time, we just need to address these blockades or our inner selves, and a clear path will form ahead.
Most of the issues we face can be easily addressed once we are aware of ourselves. Whether it's procrastination, laziness, stress, anxiety, low self-esteem, perfectionism, lack of confidence, communication issues, or work-life balance, we can easily handle ourselves and overcome.
In reality, it is easier to address our inner selves than to struggle with external disturbances. The decision is ours—whether to struggle with external disturbances or to address the issues within us.
It's just like using a gadget. To get the maximum potential out of the gadget, we should know about all the features and how to use them. Similarly, to perform at our potential, it is essential to know ourselves—our values, emotions, limitations, potential, drawbacks, boundaries, mindset, etc. Self-awareness is the key.
